The September 2025 United Nations Meeting

The Kings of the Earth Set Themselves

UN meetingAs we approach the September 2025 United Nations gathering (22nd Sept), a unique convergence in world history is unfolding. For the first time since the Tower of Babel (Gen 11), nearly all nations of the earth are conspiring together in a unique way, setting agendas that appear increasingly aligned against the covenantal purposes of YHWH.

While there may be notable exceptions, such as the United States and a handful of others, the global consensus on issues of governance, morality, and sovereignty bears striking resemblance to the rebellion described in Psalm 2.

What is also significant about this gathering is that  it coincides with both Rosh HaShannah (Jewish New Year) & the the autumn equinox. The last time the equinox aligned with Rosh HaShannah was 1837, when Queen Victoria came to the throne; it began with an economic crash that apparently impacted the world.

This article, written from a Hebraic roots perspective, contends that the events surrounding this UN meeting represent a prophetic living out of Psalm 2, with its ensuing judgment scene from Psalm 82, and its culmination in the apocalyptic vision of Revelation 5. The patterns of Scripture are not merely ancient texts but living realities, unfolding in our time.

Psalm 2 and the Conspiracy of the Nations

“Why do the nations rage and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against YHWH and against his Anointed, saying, ‘Let us burst their bonds apart and cast away their cords from us.’” (Ps 2:1-3, ESV)

Psalm 2 is often read as a coronation psalm, recited when Israel’s kings ascended the throne. Yet in its Hebraic depth, it points forward to Messiah, the true Anointed One (Mashiach). The psalm sets before us the picture of restless nations, ragash (רָגַשׁ), to make an uproar, to thrash about like a turbulent sea. This word captures more than anger, it conveys the chaos of peoples united in noisy rebellion. In contrast, the rulers “set themselves” (yatsav, יָצַב), a deliberate positioning against God. This is no passive indifference but an intentional alignment of powers against YHWH.

This is no passive indifference but an intentional alignment of powers against YHWH.

The irony is sharp: just as the righteous meditate (yehgeh) on Torah (Psalm 1:2), the nations “plot” (yehgu) rebellion (Ps 2:1). Their anti-Torah meditation produces strategies of defiance. They long to break what they perceive as shackles, the “cords” of divine order and morality. In truth, God’s commands are life and liberty (Deut 30:19-20), but the nations see them as bondage.

The September 2025 UN meeting is not merely an assembly of diplomats but echoes Babel’s council of defiance. Agendas on global governance, moral redefinition, and centralised control reflect Psalm 2’s timeless picture. Though appearing wise, their plotting is “in vain” (raq, רִיק), empty, futile, incapable of succeeding against the decree of YHWH.

Psalm 82 and the Judgment of the Sons of God

“God has taken his place in the divine council; in the midst of the gods he holds judgment: ‘How long will you judge unjustly and show partiality to the wicked? Give justice to the weak and the fatherless; maintain the right of the afflicted and the destitute. Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.’”  (Ps 82:1-4, ESV)

Psalm 82 lifts the veil into the unseen realm. The Most High presides over His edah (עֵדָה), a council or assembly. Here, the elohim (sons of God, spiritual rulers of the nations, cf. Deuteronomy 32:8 LXX/Dead Sea Scrolls) are rebuked for corruption. Their charge was to administer justice, to shepherd the nations in line with YHWH’s ways. Instead, they “show partiality to the wicked” and neglect the vulnerable. The result: systemic oppression and spiritual blindness.

This pronouncement strips the rebellious rulers of their exalted status. Their days are numbered.

The flavour of the psalm is courtroom drama. YHWH, as Judge, delivers His verdict:
“You are gods, sons of the Most High, all of you; nevertheless, like men you shall die, and fall like any prince.” (Ps 82:6-7).

This pronouncement strips the rebellious rulers of their exalted status. Their days are numbered.

In the context of the UN gathering, Psalm 82 provides a prophetic backdrop. Behind the visible leaders are spiritual powers influencing agendas. The exclusion of ordinary people, the poor, the fatherless, the voiceless, from positions of power mirrors the injustice highlighted in this psalm. The UN chamber may appear as the seat of human authority, but in truth, YHWH presides over the real council, and His judgment is sure.

Revelation 5 and the Scroll of Earth’s Governance

“And I saw a mighty angel proclaiming with a loud voice, ‘Who is worthy to open the scroll and break its seals?’ And no one in heaven or on earth or under the earth was able to open the scroll or to look into it, and I began to weep loudly because no one was found worthy to open the scroll or to look into it. And one of the elders said to me, ‘Weep no more; behold, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has conquered, so that he can open the scroll and its seven seals.’” (Rev 5:2-5, ESV)

Because He is both fully divine and fully human, Yeshua alone is worthy to open the scroll and to govern rightly.

In Revelation 5, the scroll symbolises the title deed to earth, the governance of creation on YHWH’s behalf. No human ruler, no angelic power, no international assembly is found worthy. John weeps, for humanity’s exclusion from true authority seems final. But then comes the Lamb, the Lion of Judah, slain yet standing. Because He is both fully divine and fully human, Yeshua alone is worthy to open the scroll and to govern rightly.

This vision strikes at the heart of our present moment. As the nations gather in September 2025, consolidating authority among elites and excluding the ordinary person, Revelation 5 reminds us that ultimate authority belongs to the Lamb. Human institutions may seek to rule, but their authority is temporary and derivative. The only one who can bring justice, healing, and righteousness is Messiah Himself.

Prophetic Contours: From Babel to the Lamb

  • Genesis 11 (Babel): Humanity conspires to unify in rebellion.
  • Psalm 2: The nations rage against YHWH and His Anointed.
  • Psalm 82: The spiritual rulers of the nations face judgment for injustice.
  • Revelation 5: Only the Lamb can rightly rule the nations.
The September 2025 UN gathering thus appears as the next great chapter in this prophetic arc. We are witnessing not merely political manoeuvrings but a cosmic contest between human pride, spiritual rebellion, and divine sovereignty.

Conclusion

The September 2025 United Nations meeting is not merely political theatre, it is part of the prophetic unfolding of Scripture. From Babel to Psalm 2, through Psalm 82, and culminating in Revelation 5, we see the arc of rebellion, judgment, and redemption.

Our calling is to watch, pray, and remain steadfast, knowing that history belongs not to the plotting of men, but to the purposes of God.

The nations conspire, but the Lamb reigns. Our calling is to watch, pray, and remain steadfast, knowing that history belongs not to the plotting of men, but to the purposes of God.

Prayer Points

  1. For Discernment: Pray that God’s people would see through the surface-level political language to discern the spiritual realities at work (Eph 6:12).
  2. For Courage: Pray that believers, especially those in nations aligning against YHWH’s purposes, would remain bold in their witness to Messiah (Acts 4:29).
  3. For Justice: Pray for the weak, the fatherless, and the oppressed, those marginalised in global decision-making (Ps 82:3-4).
  4. For Sovereign Intervention: Pray that YHWH would frustrate the plans of the nations that oppose His purposes, and that He would exalt His Anointed (Ps 2:4-6).
  5. For Hope in the Lamb: Pray that the Church worldwide would lift its eyes to Yeshua, the only worthy one, and live in the confidence of His coming reign (Rev 5:9-10).
